Mind Sprite

I gave my 30-day notice on the 15th, so legally I had to stay and pay rent until Nov 14th, right? My landlady told me last night that she thought I would be out by the 1st, so she rented out my apartment starting on the 4th. Um, yeah, hello? I will still be living there and I'm not really looking for a roommate! She said I could move out earlier if I want to, and not pay rent. This would save me about $150 and get the whole moving thing over with a week earlier. I'm seriously considering it, but I'm already a total stress case about the Halloween party tomorrow and just thinking about moving NEXT weekend is giving me heart palpitations. Decisions, decisions........... Update: I have decided to move early to save money and get it done. We painted the trim in our new bedroom last night and will paint the room tomorrow. Woo hoo! I'm moving AGAIN :P

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I'm very excited about our many activities this weekend. Christmas used to be my favorite, but with three or four different branches of the family, none of which get along very well with each other, to deal with and the heavy toll on my pocketbook from the gift giving, I have switched to Halloween. We are giving a party at bf's (soon to be our) house Friday night. In retrospect, trying to do a big party with a lot of decorating and cooking on a Friday night right after work is probably not the best plan. But I thinki it will be awesome. I can't give too many details because Chicken might come and I want her to be surprised. But there will be dark corridors and scary surprises, along with pumpkin carving and some games. Saturday night, we are going to the pumpkin farm to ride the tractor and do the corn maize. Then we are going to a HUGE, kick ass party as a fundraiser for the wonderful City Repair Project here in Portland. We went last year and there were about 1000 people in three floors of a wareshouse. Time to put those boogie shoes on! Have a happy Halloween, everybody!

So my boyfriend and I are going to try and buy a house in January, which is very exciting! In the meantime, I have decided to move in with him (and his roommates). This is not exactly the correct thing to do in my family, considering we aren't getting married and don't plan to in the forseeable future. The most annoying part of dealing with my family is explaining the situation, and my reasons for not getting married, over and over and over again. I wish there was a family bulletin board where you could just make the announcement, provide any relevant details, and be done with it. Then they can gossip and tsk-tsk to their hearts content and I don't have to hear it!

I am pleased to report that I am back in the land of the living! Not that it was an easy journey. I did finally go to the doctor when my eye was blood shot and oozing.......welcome, pink eye! Not to mention a mild sinus infection. But after antibiotics in my eye and in my mouth, I am feeling much, much better! Don't forget to wash those hands, kids! Taking some vitamins and getting a decent night's sleep wouldn't hurt either. I have a feeling it's going to be a BAD cold and flu season!!!
