Deep fog

It is very foggy outside, to the point I can only see the closest tree in a valley of trees from my office window. I think the fog has penetrated my brain, because I am moving zombie slow today. I've been here for an hour and a half and all I've managed to do is read my horoscope and fill out one form. It doesn't help that this was my work-related horoscope for the day........ "You will have a hard time motivating yourself to do anything but the most routine tasks, but if you can stall for time and just goof off, you might discover the winning idea you've been looking for. " Not very inspiring, I must say!

Mixed bag

The holiday season is now officially upon us and with it comes the mixed bag of emotions I always get this time of year. I love Christmas with the lights and music and festivities. I love being creative with gifts and wrapping and trying to figure out what will delight by family and friends. I enjoy the warm fires and hot chocolate and having an excuse to see all my dear ones. But then there is the flip side of spending too much money, not having time to do all the things I want to do, and family members that don't get along. Not to mention it is pitch black by the time I get to leave work and I feel like a bear looking for a cave to hibernate in. I seem to be on a roller coaster of elation and apathy. I guess all I want for Christmas is a personal shopper, family counselor and a winning lottery ticket! Happy Holidays everyone!

Kiss kiss

I forgot to mention that Saturday was the one-year anniversary of my first date with my hunny. Kisses to my sweet, wonderful man! xoxoxox

Birthday extravaganza!

We went up to Seattle this weekend for a dear friend's birthday party and to see the new Harry Potter movie. It was a total blast! We brought a pinata, filled her car with baloons, hid love notes and inspirational quotes all over the house (and I do mean everywhere - one of mine is in her waffles!), and created a scavenger hunt all over the house. Then we made her wear a tiara and pink boa to the movie theater. It's such a blessing to have such wonderful, fun, creative friends! My birthday is in a couple of weeks. I hope they don't feel the need to reciprocate! I really don't need that much attention.

Batten down the hatches!

A monsoon has apparently swept into Oregon today! It is pouring rain and small bodies of water are cropping up on roadways. It is definitely a day to be home curled up on the couch with the cat and some hot chocolate, watching a weepy chick flick. It is NOT a day to be at my desk (pretending to be) hard at work!

Murphy's Law

Why is it that appliances wait until it is late and you are super busy and don't have time to deal with them to do their death throes? I took some laundry over to the new house to get done while we were painting our soon to be new shared bedroom and the damn washer died. It would not rinse or drain, so I had a tub full of sopping wet, soapy clothes. I can't leave them in there because they will mildew. So instead of going home and getting a good night's sleep in preparation of massive packing tomorrow, I had to spend a half hour rinsing them out in the bathtub and wringing them out (with my painting-sore hands) to get them in the dryer. Damn Murphy and his inconvenient laws!!!
