Don't fence me in!

Thanks to Joanne for this........... What is Your Animal Personality? brought to you by Quizilla This ties in nicely with my zodiac sign, Sagittarius! The descriptions always say I have the need to roam and hate being fenced in and cooped up. Give me liberty or give me boredom, I always say!

Biorhythms

All the supposed sleep experts tell you that if you want to sleep well on a regular basis, you should get up at the same time, even on the weekends. That means a 6:30am wake up time on Saturday and Sunday. I’m the first to admit that I have a terrible time getting up for work on Monday, but I ask you……….. If I can’t sleep in on the weekends, what is the use of living?

Tight squeeze

I don't know what it is about cats, but the second you put an empty box in front of them, they have this overwhelming urge to get into it. Even when they don't technically fit. Over the holidays, I started a new puzzle. I was sorting out the edge pieces when my cat, Abby, discovered the box. This was not a standard size puzzle box, mind you, but one the more compact ones. Hence, the kitty muffin............... Here is another perspective that shows how small the box really is. She was quite comfortable in there for some time. I don't get it, but if it makes her happy, it's OK by me.

Color me crazy!

Thanks to P'Nut for this interesting quiz...................

Here are my eerily accurate results..................

Your Existing Situation Works well in cooperation with others. Needs a personal life of mutual understanding and freedom from discord. Your Stress Sources Unfulfilled hopes have lead to uncertainty and a tense watchfulness. Insists on freedom of action and resents any form of control other than which is self-imposed. Your Restrained Characteristics Willing to become emotionally involved and able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity, but tries to avoid conflict. Your Desired Objective Wants to make a favorable impression and be rewarded as a special personality. Is therefore constantly on the watch to see whether she is succeeding in this and how others are reacting to her. this makes her feel that she is in control. Uses tactics cleverly in order to obtain influence and special recognition. Susceptible to the esthetic or original. Your Actual Problem Seeks to avoid criticism and to prevent restriction of her freedom to act, and to decide for herself by the exercise of great personal charm in her dealings with others. Your Actual Problem #2 Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety, and she is distressed by the lack of any close and understanding relationship. She attempts to escape into a substitute world in which things are more nearly as she desires them to be.

Curse you, diaphragm

I have the hiccups. I get them very loud. My coworkers are looking at me funny. I am starting to feel queasy. I will get them at least five more times throughout the day. This is not a good thing.

Silence

I have just come to the sad realization that the place I have felt the most quiet solitude in I don't know how long is the women's restroom at work. Everywhere I go, there is noise and other people........phones ringing, coworkers talking incessantly at work;car tires on wet pavement, my whining belt on my car on the road; partner, roommate, cats, furnace at home. In our modern, technological society, how are we ever alone and quiet? A good friend of mine went on a 10-day silent meditation retreat at a Buddhist monastary. I thought at the time that the silence would drive me batty. Now it sounds like the most restful thing in the whole world. Maybe I don't need hibernation. Maybe I just need some blissful silence.

p.s.

p.s. Thinking about books I have enjoyed and playing around with a new blog has helped to somewhat lift the fog of melancholy I was under this morning. Of course, now I just want to go home, crawl in bed and start a great new book..........

Book Club

I love books and Mishka's book blog is inspiring. Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I have decided to create my own blog about books! Introducing.................Spritely Reads I love book suggestions, so bring 'em on over! Update: Chicken has joined the book blog, so the name has been changed to Spritely Chicks Read to reflect that!

Hibernation

The weather is dark and dreary, the rain comes down in a never ending curtain. Going to work holds nothing but the promise of another boring day of shuffling papers and pretending that I care. I want nothing but a home with the one I love, but have waves of frustration and anxiety to ride before reaching the dream. As often happens this time of year, I long for hibernation. To pull the covers over my head in my soft, warm bed, settle into deep winter sleep and dream of hope and home until the brighter days come.

ARGH!

I just spent 10 minutes typing a nice rant about real estate and the spell check erased the whole thing. Damn blogger! I think I need to take a walk before I try it again! ARGH!
